The University of Sunderland is a public research university located in Sunderland in the North East of England. Its predecessor, Sunderland Technical College, was established as a municipal training college in 1901. It gained university status in 1992. It now has campuses in Sunderland, London and Hong Kong, and has about 27,000 students.

 

University organization 

 

The university has five academic departments, responsible for teaching and learning, academic development and research, and working with partners in business and industry.

 

The faculties are supported by a number of service departments responsible for a wide range of activity such as student welfare and accommodation and includes teams with responsibility for managing the university estate, financial matters, and human resources.

School fees information 

 

Undergraduates fees

  • Tuition fees for full-time students are £9,250 per year for 3 or 4-year undergraduate degrees and top-up degrees.

 

  • Fees for full-time students studying foundation degrees are £8,750 

 

 

Postgraduates fees 

 

  • If you are a home student, studying either full-time or part-time for a postgraduate degree, you can apply for a government-funded loan to help you fund your postgraduate course as well as any associated living costs. This loan is only repayable once you start earning a certain amount and is weighted so you don't pay more than you can afford. 

 

  • When you apply to do a postgraduate degree, you are eligible for a non-means tested tuition fee loan of up to ¬£12,167. In order to be considered, you need to meet the following criteria:

 

 

  •  You are under 60 years of age.
  •  The course you are applying for is a full taught, research, distance-learning or professional masters typically involving 180 credits.
  •  You have resided in England for the last three years or more on the first day of the course.
  •  Masters loans are available for students who have lived in the EU for at least three years before the start of the course. They are not available for international students.

 

Installment plans 

 

Self-funded and postgraduate students have an option of how they wish to pay their tuition fees.

 

When you enrol, you can either pay the total tuition fee amount in full or choose one of the following payment options:

 

  1. Pay via a three payment installment plan
  2. Pay via a seven payment installment plan

If your course is one academic year or more, you can choose to split your tuition fee payment into three amounts, based on the official start date of your course.

If you choose to pay via seven installments, your start date will be the same as the three payment installment plan. You will then pay monthly on the 1st until your final payment, which also falls on the same date as above.

 

A credit agreement must be completed if you want to pay through seven installments. This credit agreement is available during the online enrollment process or via your e:Vision account.
